Scholarships and Internships

Scientific Adventures for Girls is looking for girls in high school to serve as Near Peer mentors in our TK-6 afterschool STEM programs. As a Near Peer, you'll help engage elementary-age girls and support Teachers and Assistants in hands-on STEM activities. 

For: girls and girl-identified youth aged 15 or older

Commitment: Minimum of 1 day per week for 1-2 hours, for 20 weeks from January - early June
Hours: Between 2:00 and 5:30 pm based on the school site.

Burger King Foundation Scholars Program

Applications are open for the BK Scholars Program. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $60,000 and are intended to offset the cost of attending college or post-secondary vocational/technical school.

For: high school seniors

Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship

Applications are open for The Amazon Future Engineer program. This program will award 400 students up to $40,000 each toward college expenses, paired with opportunities to intern at Amazon. Applicants must be planning to pursue a computer science or engineering degree in college. Applicants also need to have taken computer science or engineering classes in high school, or currently be enrolled in one.

For: high school seniors planning to pursue a computer science or engineering degree in college

GPA requirement: 2.3GPA

STEM Career Awareness

Applications almost open up for Girls Garage Construction and Community class.  This course invites high school girls and gender-expansive youth with an interest in architecture, construction trades, design, and engineering, to learn technical construction skills in the context of community service. The program is free for participants.

For: 9th-12th graders

The Berkeley Lab K-12 STEM & Outreach team is hosting their fourth annual Spanish-English Bilingual STEM camp for high school students over spring break 2025; called Science en Acción (SeA) @ Berkeley Lab. This program is free and they are looking for Spanish and Spanish-English speakers who are interested in learning more about STEM careers at Berkeley Lab.

For: 9th - 12th graders
